CLARA, CALIFORNIA, USA, SEPTEMBER 8, 2005 – The Muslim
Task Force of Northern California (MTF) formally announced
plans on Friday, September 2, 2005 to coordinate relief efforts
for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. This task force is part
of the Muslim Hurricane Relief Task Force (MHRTF) that is
coordinating the Muslim Community’s deep concern for
the victims of Hurricane Katrina and wishes to provide meaningful
relief and aid to victims of this unprecedented disaster.
The Muslim Task Force (MTF) is collecting monetary donations
as well as in-kind donations of usable items including sleeping
bags, blankets, bed sheets, pillows, pants, shirts, shoes
and toys. The collection drive awareness process is being
publicized by each member organization and collection efforts
will be channeled through the Hidaya Foundation, a 501(c)(3)
charitable organization. In-Kind donations can be brought
to participating centers or directly to the Hidaya Foundation
warehouse open Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00-4:00pm and
located at: 91 Montague Expressway Milpitas, CA 95035 Cash
donations may be made to respective organizations directly
or online by credit card at the Hidaya Foundation website,
www.hidaya.org, or by checks payable to “Hidaya Foundation”
and should be mailed to: Hidaya Foundation P.O. Box 5481 Santa
Clara, CA 95056-5481 About The Muslim Task Force: Initiated
by Hidaya Foundation, the Muslim Task Force of Northern California
is a joint effort of Islamic Centers, Mosques, and Muslim
organizations in Northern California to efficiently pull together
resources and provide aid to victims of Hurricane Katrina.
This task force is part of the Muslim Hurricane Relief Task
Force (www.mhrtf.net) that is coordinating the Muslim Community’s
deep concern for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The long-term
goal is to look beyond Hurricane Katrina relief efforts and
be able to quickly mobilize the Muslim community in times
of crisis to serve the needy in United States as well as other
parts of the world. The Muslim Task Force’s charter
is to:
• Provide a united Muslim response to help our fellow
US citizens and citizens of the world affected by disaster
and crisis.
• Align and consolidate relief efforts among Muslim
organizations at local and national levels to provide a significant
and meaningful impact
